Builder's Workshops
Cllr. Kim Lugli, in collaboration with the PVRA, is busy arranging workshops
for the builders, estate agents and tree fellers who operate in Parkhurst.
They are usually held at the Parkhurst Recreation Centre and include lunch.
She hopes to engage with the various groups rather than continually fight
with them over illegal practices.
The first builders workshop sponsored by the PVRA the was held on 17 August
and was attended by 17 builders and related contractors who work in Parkhurst.
Several issues were raised regarding cowboy builders, problems with getting
plans processed, security issues and more. What was made very clear by
the City was that it usually isn’t the builder’s fault that
bylaws were ignored. It is more likely pressure from the home owner and
therefore it will be the home owner who will be fined. In the near future
there will be building blitzes.
Clr. Lugli is also planning to arrange a builder of the month award culminating
with a builder of the year award.
