Builder's Consideration Charter
The Charter is a condensed form of the various laws and regulations pertaining
to building sites in Johannesburg. The requirements below are LEGAL and
HAVE to be complied with:
• Approved Building Plans must be available
on site for inspection by Building Control or all building will be stopped
on the site.
• Permits must be applied for rubble and building materials to be
temporarily deposited on the sidewalks.
• No rubble or building materials at all are to be dumped in the
street.
• Skips with reflectors should be used.
• Builders sheds and toilets must be erected on the site and not
on the sidewalk or street.
• No building is allowed on weekdays before 6am or after 6pm.
• No building is allowed after 5pm on Saturdays.
• No building at all is allowed on Sundays.
• No building is allowed on certain holidays: Xmas Day, New Year's
Day, Good Friday or the Day of Reconciliation (Dec 16th).
• It is an offence to erect any obstructions like chain link fences,
walls and gardens across the sidewalk.
